📝 The Full Story
Nothing screams "jet set" more than a meal at Zass, located in the hotel Il San Pietro di Positano. Just outside of Positano, this is the perfect romantic place for fine dining. The view, the location, the lovely hotel, and the beautiful presentation and flavors. The terrace looks over the sea cliff. The restaurant grows its own vegetables in the hotel garden, and a pizza oven stands at one end. Piano music in the air, and staff who actually make you comfortable. They offer a tasting menu with wine pairings. We skipped it and went for the pastas. We started with a fish tartare, but the true star was the octopus with figs. And then there was pasta. The spaghetti was impeccable. The tagliatelle, infused with lemon, accented by lobster and pistachios, ranks among the best we have ever tasted. The cannelloni, rich with ricotta and basil, is not something to skip. We finished sharing a local fish. We almost skipped dessert, then they brought candies and a mini crème brûlée I can still taste with my eyes closed. I posted a reel of this evening if you want the terrace, the pasta, and that cliff-over-the-sea feeling. Thank you for the enchanting evening, Zass.

Impeccable. Simple, and exactly what you want on that terrace.

Rich with ricotta and basil. Do not skip it for the other pastas.
Fish tartare
The appetizer we started with, before the octopus took over.
Local fish
We finished the savory courses sharing a local fish.
Mini crème brûlée
We almost skipped dessert. Then came candies and a mini crème brûlée I can still taste with my eyes closed.
If you're visiting Zass
Is Zass the same as Zaas?
Yes. The restaurant at Il San Pietro di Positano is Zass. I wrote Zaas on the original reel; the official name is Zass.
Is Zass in the center of Positano?
It is just outside of Positano, at Il San Pietro in Laurito. That is the point: the view, the hotel, and a quieter cliff above the town.
Do I need a reservation at Zass in Positano?
Yes. Book through the hotel. Online tables open seven days ahead at 9am local time, and groups larger than four should call. It is Michelin-starred, and the terrace fills up.
What should I order at Zass?
If you skip the tasting menu, go for the pastas. Start with the octopus and figs. Get the lemon tagliatelle with lobster and pistachios, the spaghetti, and the cannelloni with ricotta and basil. Share a local fish, and do not skip the mini crème brûlée.
Is Zass only for hotel guests?
No. Outside guests can reserve. Dress smart casual: long trousers, no shorts or sneakers. The terrace over the sea cliff is the whole point.
