The historic original storefront at No. 194 is still operating, but it is now takeout-only and is not wheelchair accessible. For a seated meal, use the Xinsheng branch across the street at No. 277. The xiaolongbao remain the essential order. Near Dongmen MRT, Exit 5.

Taiwan's most famous night market. Take the MRT Red Line to Jiantan Station (not Shilin). Try oyster omelets, fried chicken cutlets, stinky tofu, and fresh fruit juice. Just walk around and try many things. Opens around 4pm, stays past midnight.

The place that claims to have invented bubble tea. Go for Pearl Milk Tea, half sugar, no ice. This location is inside Eslite Spectrum at Songshan Cultural and Creative Park. They also serve Taiwanese dishes and snacks.

Great to have the franchise here in Xinyi. Solo-booth tonkotsu ramen, order by paper form, customise richness, noodle firmness and spice. Reliable when you want something familiar and fast between Xinyi stops. Get the signature tonkotsu pork ramen. Famous for solo dining booths and customizable ramen. Open 24 hours. About 5 minutes from Xiangshan MRT.

Historic reference only: Shoun RyuGin is closed. It suspended operations on December 1, 2022 and never reopened. The restaurant held two Michelin stars for five consecutive years. Former chef Ryohei Hieda opened Eika in Taipei in 2024.

Great soy milk and sandwiches. Very affordable and not that crowded, which makes it the calm alternative to Fuhang: no 6:30am queue, same style of breakfast. Also known as Ms. Chin's or The Chins. Visited twice in one week in August 2026. Open 05:30-13:00, tel (02) 2727-1638. Recently changed one character from 秦小姐 to 秦小眷 to tie to the juancun heritage and separate itself from copycat shops.

Worth a mention even as a chain. Super big space with really good ambience, and the bookstore next door is also really good. A good place to sit and work or read rather than a quick coffee stop. Officially Starbucks Reserve Dream Plaza Taipei: Starbucks Taiwan's largest flagship at roughly 21,000 sq ft, spread over 6F and a 7F rooftop, and the largest Greener Store in Asia Pacific. The bookstore is Books.com's first physical flagship, open 24 hours, in the same building. Built on the former Eslite Xinyi site; Dream Plaza opened 2025-07-25. Entry needs an online ticket after 11:00.
