Mar y Tierra at Casa Escobar

Casa Escobar Cayalá: ask for the local lomito

Why go: Friends and family

Order: Mar y Tierra

Casa Escobar in Cayalá, Guatemala City: get the Mar y Tierra, and ask for the local lomito.

Cayalá sits in the main area of the mall. Great steak. They push international ingredients and methods: the puyazo (picanha) is from the US. Lomito comes both ways, US or local: ask for the local. It's really good. So is the local chorizo. They also do Argentinian chorizo made here following an Argentine recipe. Good wines from Argentina and Chile with the meat. Fast service, courses well timed, and they treat you properly. Fun with friends and family. Last visit was a big parrillada: carne adobada (pork), a bit dry but a different flavor, even if similar to Mexico. Also chicken, and tortillitas calientes. Consistent quality asado, carne asada the Guatemalan way. I recommend it. Mar y Tierra is lomito with giant shrimps.

Antigua was recently remodeled. Looks amazing. Nice service. One block from the parque central. Went back October 4, 2026 with friends.

Zona 10 / Guatemala City is more executive. Business during the week, families on weekends.
