## Review

If you love Korean BBQ, this is the fancy version in San Francisco. You will be full, you will be happy, and you can get leftover food to go. I always enjoy going with friends to a Korean barbecue, but for an upscale experience, San Ho Won is the one you're looking for if you want to impress. Not only will they make great barbecue meat for you, but their selection of beverages and add-ons is superb. If you've ever gone to a Korean barbecue and were worried about overcooking the meat or not having it at the right point, that's what San Ho Won will do for you.

Reservations are hard to get in advance unless you want to try the last serving at night, and that late seating might be a heavy meal. Still, San Ho Won is a very good deal: a Michelin-star menu, a very good selection of meat, and a reservation that is worth sharing with a group of four or even six people. Plan ahead, and sometimes check for the very last options in the schedule because they tend to open up occasionally. This is definitely a place worth visiting in San Francisco.

We did a small reel when we visited. It is a better way to appreciate the tasting menu. Check it out.

## Guest perspective: Friends on San Ho Won

Remarks from other friends I enjoyed this experience with:

> In San Ho Won the short rib was amazing. All in general was very good. It’s a different experience for Korean BBQ. Feels upper middle class while usually a BBQ experience is more a popular meal.

## What to order

- **Galbi (Korean BBQ Short Ribs):** Double-cut short ribs grilled tableside. The signature dish.
- **Egg Soufflé:** Light steamed egg.
- **Crispy Scallion Pancakes:** Crisp pajeon with scallions.
- **Korean beef ssam:** Beef in lettuce wraps.
- **Kimchi Jjigae:** Kimchi stew.

## Tips

Hard to book ahead on Resy unless you take the last seating, which can be a heavy meal. Worth sharing with 4 to 6 people.

## If you're visiting San Ho Won

### Is San Ho Won walk-in friendly?

Walk-ins are a long shot. Reservations are hard to get in advance unless you want the last serving at night, and that late seating can be a heavy meal. Book on Resy when you can, and keep an eye on last-minute openings.

### Is San Ho Won worth it for a group?

Yes. It is a very good deal for a Michelin-star menu: a strong selection of meat, leftovers to take home, and a reservation that is worth sharing with four or even six people. You will be full and you will be happy.

### What makes San Ho Won special?

If you love Korean BBQ, this is the fancy version in San Francisco. The staff grill the meat for you at the table, so you are not worrying about overcooking it, and the portions are generous enough that leftover food to go is part of the night.
